Latest: Update v1.2.0 now Live!
Roaring Rivers Part 2: Shocking Snap
The last part of the river update, Roaring Rivers Part 2: Shocking Snap, is now live. The update took longer than expected, with an even larger gap the initial release and part 1 of Roaring Rivers. This was due to the development of the Blue Depths Wiki and the fact that Part 2 ended up being much larger than I expected. The final part of Roaring Rivers offers new mobs, blocks, armor, and a complete rework of the Deep Blue Grill. Below gives a list of everything offered in 1.2.0:
Mobs:
- Bluegill
- Spawns exclusively in rivers
- Another common ambient fish to add more variety to rivers
- Can be used as a new food source
- Electric Eel
- Spawns exclusively in rivers
- Bottom dwelling fish that will defend itself with an electric pulse againsts attacks with a powerful Electric Pulse!
- Can be used as a new food source, but be careful, it's got a little kick in it's taste!
- Important for the new Electrode Block
- Crocodile
- Spawns exclusively in rivers
- Dangerous river predator that will attack and lunge at players
- Can drop special leather and teeth useful in crafting the Crocodile Armor
- Can be hatched by an egg and raised by players
Blocks
- Marine Workbench
- A brand new utility block that is used to craft the electrode and crocodile armor
- Will also be used for crafting items added in future updates
- Electrode
- A brand new redstone utility block
- Use electric eel to craft and interact with the block
- If an electric eel interacts with the block, it will activate any redstone connected to it
Armor
You can use the Marine Workbench to craft the new crocodile armor using crocodile leather and teeth. This armor provides protection that sits between chainmail/gold and iron armor, and has the ability to damage anything that attacks you as well.
Major Deep Blue Grill Rework
The Deep Blue Grill has received a major glowup in terms of it's functionality. Before whenever you wanted to cook or process food or items in the grill, you were limited to how much you could cook at a time, for example when cooking food you were limited to cooking in batches of 1, 8, 16, or 64. That limitation no longer exists. Now players can insert any amount of items with the fuel source, the grill will cook the food/items dynamically, you no longer need to worry putting in a specific number of items. For more information check out the wiki or the in-game guidebook.
QOL and Technical Changes
- Spawn rates: some Blue Depths mobs have been added to spawn pools, all that this means is that when a pool is spawned,
only one mob from that pool will spawn, and each mob in the pool has a higher priority than others to spawn. What this
basically means is that some mobs will spawn less frequently to ensure that there isn't lag from too many mobs. Below
lists the pools along with which mobs are in the pool:
- Predator pool (Rivers only)
- Crocodile
- Bull Shark
- Common Fish pool (Rivers only)
- Largemouth Bass
- Bluegill
- Predator pool (Rivers only)
- Guide Book
- Due to more and more mobs being added, new crafting recipes, and no longer needing some recipes due to the grill rework, the in-game guidebook has been changed and condensed to only include breeding instructions and crafting recipes for most mobs. For more details on mob behavior, biome exclusivity, etc. check out the wiki.
- Commands
- Summon Command: Added the new mobs to the summon command
- Display command:
- Added the new mobs to the display command
- Removed the kill_display command option, it has been replaced with two new command options:
- kill_closest: destroys the closest model display
- kill_all: destroys all models in generate chunks
- New Command: destroy
- You can now use the new destroy command to destroy Blue Depths mobs and blocks
- You can simply use: /function blue_depths:destroy/... and use the autofill options to decide which mobs or blocks you want to destroy.
- More details found on the wiki.
- Easter Egg: because of the rework of some systems, one of the easter eggs had to be reworked in how to "get" the easter egg.
Important Note
Unfortunately, because of some technical changes made during the update, 1.21.9 and 1.21.10 support had to be dropped. I apologize for any inconveniece this may cause, but Roaring Rivers Part 1 and below are the only versions that will be available for these versions of the game.
